Word Walls
Word walls are curved Nordic monuments carved in the dragon tongue. Approaching one teaches a Word of Power for a shout, which you unlock by spending a dragon soul. Skyrim has 42 walls in the base game, Dawnguard adds three more, and Solstheim has seven. A few words are taught by the Greybeards or in other realms instead of at a wall.
